LULWORTH

Lulworth is a 29 foot long OO finescale layout loosely based on Swanage. It has a reverse track plan than Swanage but has an extra goods siding and uses an up line and a down line, rather than a single line. The reason why Lulworth was made as a reverse image of Swanage is because we wished to incorporate a fiddle yard and viaduct which had been rescued from a previous layout. The viaduct was to the right of the layout and Swanage station was on the left. This meant that there would have to be a sharp curve to correct this problem but as the rolling stock is mainly kitbuilt the locomotives would not be able to take the curve without de-railing. As this was not to be the exact prototype of Swanage we decided to add a milk depot for a wider variety of goods which could be run into Lulworth. The station building, turntable, engine shed and goods shed are the prototypes from Swanage. The buildings, trees, track and points are all scratch built.

The stock run on Lulworth is of a large variety. The layout has the Southern loco's like Lord Nelson's, Schools, King Arthur's, Merchant Navy‘s, West Country's but also Great Western loco's like 2251 Collet goods, 14xx with autotrain, 44xx and 94xx's. The layout has LMS Ivatt's as well. Standard Class 4's and 5's are also run which gives the layout an abnormality because some loco's are running along with older types which had been scrapped before the later one's were even built. The rolling stock consists of Bachmann and Lima wagons, coaches, vans, etc. Some of the coaching stock is Southern Pride.
