The village of Denmead is situated in the South of England, about half way between Portsmouth and the range of hills called the South Downs. The area where the village lies used to be called the Forest of Bere, an ancient hunting ground. Now it is mainly farmland, although there are still large areas of woodland remaining.
The Association was formed as a result of the concern of the village inhabitants about uncontrolled urbanisation being forced upon the village during the 1970's.
The object of this association is to stimulate public interest in Denmead in Planning, Architecture, Preservation and Research and to liase with the statutory bodies.
