Midi Files for Rehearsal

Unless otherwise indicated these have been sequenced by John Tappy using 'Mozart' and 'Orchestra Plus'

The following are our rehearsal files, arranged to help each 'voice'. Click on your required voice and 'sing along'!

The following notes apply to pieces that I have arranged especially for Hayling Choir practice.
(Files taken from elsewhere have usually been left in the format and style of the original.)

• All MIDI files are provided for personal use only. It is not the intention to violate any copyrights by offering this service for our singers and we believe that these midi files fall under the "fair use" doctrine for copyright material. If you find any MIDI files in this site that must not be distributed, please inform us and we will see that the file is removed. Music companies should note that these MIDI files do not replace professional recordings and are of no use unless the singer has a purchased score in front of them.
• The songs may be slightly slower than 'concert' so the the notes can be learned.
• If heard in stereo, the voice selected will be louder than the others, possibly duplicated by a piano and on one speaker. The other voices and accompaniment are quieter and on the other speaker.
• Where a part is split, I have tended to play both parts on one track, however in some cases I will generate separate tracks.
• When you click on the voice your media player should open and play the music.
• If you want to download the music to your computer so that you can play it when not connected to the internet, right click on the voice part you need and click on 'Save Target as...' to put the file in your own Music Folder.
• Where there is a long solo tune, I have not necessarily included it; also where a part is singing the tune with another part it may not be highlighted. (For instance if Altos are singing the tune with Sopranos, with the men in parts, then the Alto line will not emphasise the tune.)
• Dynamics, changes in tempo, pauses etc are also neglected. Note lengths however are as written!... the aim is to give the pitch and rythm of the parts.
• Each part is played on a 'string' or 'wind' instrument (ie Soprano part is on Violin, Alto on Viola, etc.) Your sound card should play these correctly unless you have some special sounds loaded ...
• Please note that you cannot just burn these MIDI files to a CD and hope to play them, they are digital representations and must be converted to 'wave' files before they can be burnt to a CD.
