Current projects

Projects are created and organised by members with a particular interest.  Any member may propose a project and may work on it by themselves or invite other members to join in.  Everyone in a project team must be a member of NEHHAS or an associated Society in order to be properly insured. Projects requiring NEHHAS resources and/or funding must be approved by the committee beforehand.

The following projects are currently in progress

Farnborough Land History
A project to study the history of land use, starting with the original Manor of Farnborough. See our Old Maps webpage for examples.

Farnborough Pottery Industry
Collating information on the pottery industry of Cove and Farnborough, which supplied London in past centuries.

Farnborough Workhouse
A project to study the history of the union workhouse in Farnborough and something of the lives of the occupants.

Crondall Hundred Boundary from AD 976 Charter
Solving a Saxon Charter involves finding the places mentioned in it on the modern ground.  The Crondall Charter has over 45 places named.  We have published the solution in NEHHAS Journal Vol 2, and intend to hold a conference on our findings.

Roman Road Winchester - Alton - Guildford
This Road is in the ANTONINIAN ITINERARY XV with VINDOMI placed at Neatham, Alton.  Structural evidence is coming to light especially towards Winchester, and excavation sites are being identified.

Post Margary Roman Road update
We are maintaining a set of abstracts relating to Roman road 'finds' in Hampshire and neighbouring counties.  This is updated whenever new information is received.  See
publications for further details.
