The New Forest Section of the Hampshire Field Club was founded in 1959 .  Other divisions of the club are concerned principally with encouraging research and publication, but the focus of the New Forest Section is on practical fieldwork and recording of the Forest's archaeology and local history. It undertakes the following projects -  for details click on a link.

  1. An annual excavation.
  2. Continuing programme of fieldwork.
  3. Maintenance of the New Forest Archaeological Database.
  4. Special survey projects.
  5. Maintenance of the Forestry Commission's archaeological maps.
  6. Lectures and field outings.
  7. Current research in the New Forest
  8. A boiling trough experiment 2004
