What Badges and Qualifications can I Achieve?

On 1st September 2007, the British Canoe Union (BCU) withdrew their old ‘Star’ qualifications and replaced them with a new Star scheme and a modernised Paddlepower scheme.

The Sea Cadets responded to this change with a new badge structure which replaced the old structure; the new badge structure came into force in May 2008.

The Corps recognises both Paddlepower and Star awards up to BCU 2 Star / Paddlepower Discovery; after this level, only Star awards are recognised. This decision represents the Corps’ desire to recognise more appropriate learning pathways for younger cadets, whilst developing adventurous training and leadership for senior cadets.

See the Courses page for more details of courses available in Southern Area.

To see how personal paddling skills fit into the Coaching structure see the UKCC page.
