RegattasSouthern Area run the Canoe Regatta in early July at Dreadnought Reach on the River Thames near Reading.Dreadnought Reach - Area Canoe Regatta Location (external link) The Regatta allows competitors from each of the 8 Districts to compete for individual medals and to contribute to the Team Trophy result. Teams consist of Girls or Boys, split into Senior or Junior. The age range for teams is set by the date of the National Regatta; at which time Junior must be older than 12, but not yet 15. Seniors must be 15 or older, but not yet 18. To compete in the Area Regatta, all competitors must be fully enrolled, aged 12 or older and have passed their BCU 1 star (Kayak) award.
