At the Andover
Ramblers committee meeting held on 18th January
2005, Chairman Ted Diggins presented Ian
Duffin with an engraved pocket compass in recognition
of his 20 years service on the committee.
Ian first joined the committee in 1983 and was
our Footpath Secretary for 15 years, after which he concentrated
on access rights. Now that the access legislation has been achieved,
Ian is taking a well-earned rest.
In between his footpath and
committee work Ian has held most of the Hampshire Area jobs including
chairman.
Test Valley Borough Council also recognised his
work with their award for his efforts for the community in respect
of local walkers.
The inscription on the back of the compass reads as follows:
