What is RSS?

RSS is short for Really Simple Syndication, a format to share data. It is a way for a website, like St. Andrew's to deliver material electronically to your computer through an RSS feed, a simple file formatted in a computer language called XML.

Once you have set up the feed, which only takes a few minutes, a constantly updated summary of the latest St. Andrew's news, events and website updates, with links back to the full content on this site, will be provided to your desktop RSS reader.

How do I use RSS?

To view an RSS feed you will need special software called a feed reader or aggregator.

Feed readers can be downloaded from the internet, accessed online, for example at portal sites like Google, Windows Live and Yahoo, or your browser may already provide one. A few examples are given under Related Links, left. Alternatively, use a search engine to find one suitable for you.

Once you have installed a reader you can add our RSS feed, along with feeds from many other providers. Setting up a feed differs from one RSS reader to another, but the next step usually involves copying the URL of the feed and pasting it into the reader.

Please note St. Andrew's accepts no responsibility or liability for loss which may arise from use of any linked sites and is not responsible or liable for the contents of any websites of third parties which are listed on this site.
