The Parish Council staff and helpers had done an excellent job of transforming the main hall for the childrens party as can be seen from the pictures above. There were also a couple of American Army vehicles strategically stationed in the carpark with their crews dressed in period uniforms, and as can be seen from our picture on the front page two members of the council staff dressed in Women's Land Army outfits posed by one of the vehicles for the photographers! Due to the inclement weather the children's outdoor games had to take place indoors in the Sports hall,
