CHARLES BURGESS FRY 1872 - 1956

Charles Burgess Fry, the famous cricketer and sportsman of a century ago, brought his new wife Beatrice and her ready-made family to West End in 1898. It must have caused great interest in the village to have such a famous resident, similar to David Beckham today, living in their midst for a decade.
His home was Glenbourne House set in 1.5 acres, on the corner of Beacon Road, well placed and partly hidden from view.               Continued on page 2
