Yateley Village Design Framework

Yateley cannot be simply defined as a town, village or suburb.  It has many of the characteristics, features and drawbacks of a village.  Many local people like to think of it as a village.  However, Yateley has also many of the facilities and problems associated with towns and suburbs.

The Yateley Village Design Framework is a Vision for the future.  Why does Yateley need this Vision?  Due to the ad-hoc development that has occurred in Yateley and the changes that are anticipated in the future, there is a need for a strong framework to guide any changes in the town centre and its immediate environment.

The Yateley Town Centre Management Group has been set up to lead this initiative.  The YTCMG currently comprises Yateley Town Council, Hart District Council, Hampshire County Council, Yateley Society and the Countryside Agency.  Initial ideas are:

Reduce the severance of the centre
Reflect the unique local history and distinctiveness of Yateley
Enhance the importance of the 'green places'
Create a centre that provides a range of opportunities
Provide high quality, accessible and enjoyable places

Initially, Yateley Society members have taken photographs of the area between Hall Lane roundabout and Cricket Hill roundabout, showing good and bad aspects.  Feedback is being sought about what is valued about the area, issues that are considered a problem, and what residents would prefer.

Pictures of Yateley (3Mb approx)

There about 320 photographs here, taken recently by Yateley Society members in order that we may collate the views.
We felt they may be of interest to others - be warned the filesize is about 3Mb and may take a while to load.  Residents should recognise the shots and hopefully will be prompted to add their own views.  Please feel free to browse and Contact Us with your comments.  The more involvement we have from locals, the more chance we have of achieving a shared Vision.
